Principal's Message

I want to warmly welcome you to Mudgee Public School.  I have the privilege and honour of leading this outstanding school that has been successfully educating the children of Mudgee for over 150 years.  I trust that as you work your way through our website you will see that our school is a place of educational excellence as well as a place where your child will be cared for in a personal way.

Our website will inform you of our extensive arts’ & academic programs. Our webpage will inform you of our extensive arts’ and academic programs.  In addition to this you will find out about the outstanding technology that children are using on a daily basis and just how we care for and encourage your child to be the best they can be.  The webpage also gives you details of our outstanding Special Education Unit which caters for children who have a wide variety of special learning needs.

2010 promises to be a significant year for our school.  As a result of funding from the Federal Government, $3 million dollars worth of building and construction will take place.  By the end of the year we anticipate that we will have a new classroom, a new special purpose room, a large COLA (covered outdoor learning area), a new canteen and an extended hall, with an increased seating capacity of approximately 50%.

Our Special Education Unit playground will also undergo a significant transformation, with Federal funding, in conjunction with funding from our P & C, allowing us to put in place a permanent  COLA, remove the existing surface and lay down soft-fall and erect specially modified playground equipment.  Organised by our P & C, an evening with Wayne Bennett, head coach of the St George Illawarra Rugby League team, was a resounding success in assisting the school raise the necessary funding for the playground equipment.

In addition to this, 2010 sees the introduction of our new school uniform.  Photos of the uniform can be viewed elsewhere on our site.  After a tremendous amount of work in 2009 by a dedicated group of women from our P & C, the change to the new uniform is now in place.  Needless to say, there is a change over period and therefore we will continue to see children wearing the previous uniform for the next few years.  However, all new enrolments at Mudgee Public from the beginning of 2010 will be wearing the new uniform.

Thank you taking the time to visit our site.  I trust you will enjoy this brief introduction to our wonderful school.  If there is anything I can do to assist you with the education of your child – feel free to contact me.
