One of the things that makes Mudgee Public School such a great place is our active, friendly school community. We want to make sure every family (especially new ones) has the opportunity to get involved. Volunteering at school is a great way to meet new people and your kids get a kick out of seeing you, or any other special person at school.

We have hundreds of families attending Mudgee Public School and many are new to the school this year. We would be extremely grateful if every family could nominate to do “just one thing”.

A calendar of events is available here and our volunteer form is available by clicking on the button below. You can register your availability on this form specific to the dates and events you are interested in. Please fill out this form and tick one box (or more if you wish) and enter your contact details. A P&C representative will then be in touch so you can assist with any P&C run event as it approaches. A copy of this form will also go home with the newsletter. Please return any hard copy forms to your class teacher.

Thank you in anticipation of your valuable help.

Yours Sincerely,

Sacha Etherington

A new Healthy Schools Canteen Policy has been released for implementation across NSW Canteens throughout 2017. The new policy is addressing the issue of childhood obesity and public school canteens are now required to meet the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy outlined by NSW Health, and follow the Nutrition in Schools Policy. ANZAC Day will occur in the holidays this year Tuesday 25th April. This is the Tuesday before students return to school for Term 2 on the Wednesday. All children are invited to attend the ANZAC March on this day. Mudgee Public is always well represented and we look forward to seeing you all there this year. Students should wear full winter uniform and school hat, and they should wear sunscreen and bring a water bottle. Meeting time is 10am at the western corner of Perry and Gladstone Streets opposite Club Mudgee.

A Parent Information Session is being held Sunday 23rd April at 4pm in the school hall ( last weekend of the school holidays). All parents and carers are invited to attend a workshop with Dr Michael Carr-Gregg, author of 10 books and one of the most respected Child and Adolescent Psychologists. Our uniform shop is going on line. We are researching ways to open an on line shop for ordering and purchasing. We are also investigating opening the uniform shop at other times to compliment its current opening hours on a Thursday afternoon. We will announce the grand opening as soon as all is finalised. And 7th April brings us to the end of Term 1. Happy Holidays!

P&C Events

The P&C are currently working on their events calendar for 2017. There are some great ideas in the making such as a fitness fundraiser, trivia night and our usual coffee stalls and cake baking. If you are able to help out at all throughout the year we would love to hear from you. Volunteering for one event does not mean you have to volunteer for everything. We'd like to ask that each family volunteer for "just one thing" and we can share the load. A copy of the calendar for events involving the P&C is available here.

Our P & C Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the School Residence at 2pm. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see fresh faces and hear new ideas.

Next P & C Meeting - Monday 3rd April 2pm

Our P&C Fundraising Group always works hard towards obtaining funds to assist many different areas of our school.  The Fundraising Team this year led by our Fundraising Co-ordinator Rochelle McDonald has a number of events scheduled for 2017. All volunteers are welcome as many hands make light work. If you are interested in volunteering you can complete our volunteer form by clicking the button at the top of the page "I want to volunteer".

Some of these fundraising events include canteens at sporting carnivals, trivia night (which will be our major fundraiser for 2017), fitness fundraiser and crazy camel to name few. Our goal this year is to raise enough funds to start replacing classroom air conditioners. Air conditioners were installed in all classrooms around 10-12 years ago by the P&C at that time. We are now seeing these air conditioners reach the end of their lives and with the hot weather we have been experiencing it is vital we have conditions in our classrooms appropriate for effective learning. As always the P&C will continue to support other initiatives such as the School Spectacular and sporting and band groups such as well as the Healthy Harold Van to name a few. We appreciate all your support in our fundraising to help make our school a great place for our children.

A Canteen meeting was Tuesday 14th March 2pm in the Canteen. Thanks to all for coming and sharing your ideas. The Winter menu was discussed and how best to incorporate our "cook from scratch" initiative in line with the new Healthy Schools Canteen Policy. The new policy is addressing the issue of childhood obesity and public school canteens are now required to meet the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy outlined by NSW Health, and follow the Nutrition in Schools Policy. The P&C are reviewing the Canteen menu to keep in line with these new guidelines and would like your feedback through the Canteen survey. Information on this new policy can be found at healthy-kids.com.au

Please complete the Canteen survey that was distributed with the school newsletter. Hard copies can be returned to your class teacher. Alternatively you can down load and print or complete a copy on this website at the top of this page. Thank you in anticipation of your valuable feedback.

If you are interested in getting on board our "cook from scratch" team please contact the P&C with your availability pandc@mudgeepublic.com.au. Commitment is on a x1 week, x1 fortnight or x1 month basis depending on the number of volunteers available and the items being cooked. We are wanting to develop this initiative further throughout 2017 so all volunteers welcome - thank you.

We have an amazing and very busy canteen here at the school.  To keep up the great service to our children we would love some more volunteers, so if you have any spare time even for an hour,  your assistance would be much appreciated. Please contact Kim Stubbs our Canteen Coordinator on 6372 1095 or 0427 722 669 between 9am and 2pm Monday to Friday.

Uniform Shop

Mudgee Public P&C have a New & Used Uniform Shop in the old canteen near the Primary Hall.  The uniform shop is open every Thursday from 2.45 - 3.45. Any donations are appreciated and can be dropped into the blue bin at the front office. For enquiries phone Dakota on 0432298731.

January 2017 saw our uniform shop open during the school holidays and sales went through the roof. To compliment this we introduced an Eftpos facility which had not been available previously. We are developing an online shop for our school uniforms as well as opening during other holiday periods. This will help with orders where parents are not able to get to the school when the uniform shop is open. Order forms will be available here and a link to the online shop will also be available here. Please watch this space...
