One of the things that makes Mudgee Public School such a great place is our active, friendly school community. We want to make sure every family (especially new ones) has the opportunity to get involved. Volunteering at school is a great way to meet new people and your kids get a kick out of seeing you, or any other special person at school.

We have hundreds of families attending Mudgee Public School and many are new to the school this year. We would be extremely grateful if every family could nominate to do “just one thing”.

A calendar of events is available here and our volunteer form is available by clicking on the button below. You can register your availability on this form specific to the dates and events you are interested in. Please fill out this form and tick one box (or more if you wish) and enter your contact details. A P&C representative will then be in touch so you can assist with any P&C run event as it approaches. A copy of this form will also go home with the newsletter. Please return any hard copy forms to your class teacher.

Thank you in anticipation of your valuable help.

Yours Sincerely,

Sacha Etherington
President

Our Uniform Shop is On Line!! A great convenient way to shop for all your uniform needs. Click on the Uniform Shop tab above in the top menu to view a list of uniform items and prices. From there you can add items to your cart for purchase. A receipt will be emailed and there are different options to collect your items. If on line shopping is not your thing the Uniform Shop will still be open every Thursday during school terms 2.45-3.45pm.

Our Canteen has been working toward aligning our menu with the Healthy Foods Canteen Policy that all public schools must now follow. All foods are categorised into “everyday” and “occasional” food choices. We already have healthy options including hamburgers, spaghetti bolognese and salad bowls available. We have also introduced fruit salad cups, frozen oranges and pikelets as part of our summer menu. The major change starting Monday 20th November and into 2018 will be pies, sausage rolls and chicken nuggets will only be available on Fridays. They are classed “occasional” foods and can only be offered once a week. If your child orders a pie, sausage roll or chicken nuggets on any other day unfortunately they will be made a basic sandwich such as cheese or vegemite instead. We apologise for any inconvenience. Please have a look at our Canteen menu here.

Fundraising has been a key component for the P&C throughout 2017. To date for 2017 we have raised more than $20,000.00 in an effort to raise funds for new air conditioners for our classrooms. Final figures are not yet in but will be announced once known.

Thank you to all of the P&C committee, members and volunteers for their support and effort throughout 2017. With our combined effort we have been able to fundraise much needed funds for the classroom air conditioners. Special thanks to Jemma for stepping into the role of Fundraising Coordinator earlier in the year to coordinate our many volunteers in our fundraising capacity. And many thanks to our wonderful volunteers whom we couldn't do without. 2017 has seen many fundraising initiatives led by the P&C including Crazy Camel, Walkathon, Trivia (thanks Stacey), Coffee & Cake, Primary Athletics Canteen, T20 Cricket Canteens all of which have been a huge success and our goal for new air conditioners in the classrooms will begin to be achieved.

Thank you and Merry Christmas to all. See you in the New Year.

P&C Events

If you are able to help out at all throughout the year we would love to hear from you. Volunteering for one event does not mean you have to volunteer for everything. We'd like to ask that each family volunteer for "just one thing" and we can share the load. Simply send us an email pandc@mudgeepublic.com.au and let us know you're interested. Your name can then be added to the list of available volunteers.

Our P & C Meetings are held on the second Monday of each month in the School Residence at 2pm. Everyone is welcome and we would love to see fresh faces and hear new ideas.

Fundraising

Our P&C Fundraising Group always works hard towards obtaining funds to assist many different areas of our school.  The Fundraising Team now led by our Vice President Jemma Williams has a number of events still scheduled for 2017. All volunteers are welcome as many hands make light work. If you are interested in volunteering you can complete our volunteer form by clicking the button at the top of the page "I want to volunteer".

Some of these fundraising events include canteens at sporting carnivals, fitness fundraiser and crazy camel to name few. Our goal this year is to raise enough funds to start replacing classroom air conditioners. Air conditioners were installed in all classrooms around 12-14 years ago by the P&C at that time. We are now seeing these air conditioners reach the end of their lives and with the hot weather we experienced at the beginning of the year it is vital we have conditions in our classrooms appropriate for effective learning. As always the P&C will continue to support other initiatives such as our healthy schools canteen policy, school spectacular and the Healthy Harold Van to name a few. We appreciate all your support in our fundraising to help make our school a great place for our children.

Canteen

We are developing our "cook from scratch" initiative further in line with the new Healthy Schools Canteen Policy. The new policy is targeting the issue of childhood obesity. Public school canteens in NSW are now required to meet the NSW Healthy School Canteen Strategy outlined by NSW Health and follow the Nutrition in Schools policy.

Information on this new policy can be found at healthy-kids.com.au

We have an amazing and very busy canteen here at the school.  To keep up the great service to our children we would love some more volunteers, so if you have any spare time even for an hour,  your assistance would be much appreciated. Please contact the P&C via the front office or you can email to pandc@mudgeepublic.com.au
